Reporting to the VP of Finance, the Accounting Manager will play a key role in supporting the financial tasks of the organization. This role will work closely with cross-functional team members throughout the organization, in addition to consultants and vendors to ensure the integrity of our financial reporting. The Accounting Manager will control the daily accounting operations and provide relevant information to assist with the monthly closing process.
This role will be based in our Hackensack, New Jersey office or New York City with weekly to bi-monthly days in the New Jersey office.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports including Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow Statements
- Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, anticipating future legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, filing financial reports, and tax planning/ compliance
- Assist in Coordinating activities of external auditors
Cash Management:
- Monitor bank accounts through an online Treasury Management system, multiple credit card balances
- Manage the company’s Line of Credit activity
- Manage and maintain cash flow reporting on a weekly basis
- Process intercompany cash transfers
- Reconcile bank statements
Accounts Receivable:
- Manage the Accounting Associate responsible for Billing and Accounts Receivable
- Assist in client cash collections and resolve any delinquent balances
Accounts Payable:
- Verifies accuracy of invoices received and approves payment within the financial system
- Process automated expense reports with Expensify
- Pay vendors via ACH & EFT
- Pay credit cards and review monthly statements
- Interact with vendors and internal staff to obtain invoices and troubleshoot issues
Payroll:
- Coordinate with Payroll Service Provider to process bi-weekly payroll
- Maintain commissions calculations schedule to be approved by CFO and CEO
- Reconcile and Record Payroll and related entries to GL
Month-end Close:
- Lead the month-end close process
- Responsible for accuracy of GL and reconciling discrepancies
- Providing variances analysis and providing commentary
- Assist with posting Revenue and Expense Journal Entries
- Assist with forecasting & budgeting process
- Ad hoc projects as assigned by VP of Finance and CFO
QUALIFICATIONS
- 5-7 years of experience in a finance or accounting role, preferably with a professional services organization
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
- Proficiency in QuickBooks and other ERP systems
- Strong Microsoft Excel and Word skills
- Ability to utilize independent judgement in establishing the accuracy of information
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with team members
- Proven track record of success in both team and individual/self-starter environments
For New York City Ants, the base salary for this role is $95,000-$110,000. Relevant experience, skills, business needs, and other related qualifications determine compensation.
