Antenna is looking for a Vice President for our Climate practice to manage the development, coordination, and direction of public relations activities on behalf of clients. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Integrated Account Strategy and Management: 

  • Provide oversight on a portfolio of cleantech and sustainability clients 
  • Autonomously lead strategy development and creation of plans for successful client programs
  • Own and drive the creative process and encourage teammates to identify fresh approaches to clients’ programs
  • Assign roles and responsibilities across account teams
  • Monitor financial health of accounts and advise on retainer management
  • Ensure efficient and effective collaboration and coordination with other Antenna divisions (e.g. digital marketing team, web team) on account work 
  • Own, maintain,and grow a book of business within the practice area
  • Ensure client success and retention and identify upsell opportunities
  • Ensure health of account/budgets, track resources on accounts and minimize overservicing 

Business Development and Agency Marketing:

  • Leverage network to identify potential opportunities for new business
  • Represent the company at relevant business events, conferences and networking opportunities at major national events
  • Develop and nurture professional relationships with stakeholders to expand Antenna’s network and new client opportunities
  • Mentor junior staff on best business development best practices
  • Lead the development of proposals, scoping, and pricing for prospective clients 
  • Support Antenna’s marketing efforts with original content demonstrating thought leadership and represent Antenna on relevant industry panels
  • Regularly attend and participate in new business pitches 

Ant Development and Management: 

  • Manage, motivate and mentor staff, setting and communicating consistent goals and objectives
  • Directly supervise and mentor 2-3 account directors, the drivers of the day-to-day operation of accounts. Supervise other junior staff as needed.
  • Foster a culture of inclusion, achievement, respect, individuality, empowerment and creative innovation backed by strategic thinking
  • Encourage open discussion and feedback regarding agency direction, mission and culture regularly
  • Identify strong performers and emerging talent, communicating directly and consistently that they are valued through verbal and written commendations and as appropriate, monetary rewards
  • Review, assign and monitor weekly/monthly staff time/client allocations, adjusting account loads as appropriate
  • Track and conduct staff reviews in a timely and comprehensive manner, providing candid and direct feedback 
  • Raise red flags to agency executive team regarding staffing issues on a timely basis, providing recommendations for solutions and addressing those issues directly with individuals -- in person and in writing
  • Nurture relationship with agency CEO. Take advantage of open door policy to introduce new ideas, seek professional advice and flag issues that demand attention. 

Leadership:

  • Serve on various leadership committees and sync with executive team on a quarterly basis regarding company culture, agency marketing, PR/digital best practices, digital integration 
  • Strategic/standardizing processes on the agency level 
  • Participate in the interview process for new hires within in the practice 

Client Relations: 

  • Ensure client programs continually track to goals and objectives, focusing on key metrics
  • Implement weekly status meetings, conference calls and regular client reporting structure customized to individual client nuances and needs
  • Facilitate process by which all client materials, plans and programs are reviewed to ensure quality control, including tactical and strategic checks and balances
  • Facilitate highly communicative, direct, two-way dialogue relationships with client partners, reinforcing 24/7 strategic counsel and support, and confidence in agency expertise and services
  • Encourage formal client assessment of agency performance -- Quarterly Business Review (QBRs) -- or at frequency appropriate to account
  • Innovates new agency offerings tied to client objectives and to generate potential new revenue streams

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • 10+ years of direct public relations experience or related areas
  • Experience leading teams and managing budgets 
  • Interest in client subject matter and ability to understand complex technologies and explain them in accessible, compelling terms
  • Ability to think strategically and connect client goals/objectives with integrated marketing and PR program approaches 
  • Self-motivated, proactive and flexible 
  • Strong writing, editing and communication skills

For New York City Ants, the base salary for this role is $130,000-165,000. Relevant experience, skills, business needs, and other related qualifications determine compensation.
